Adobe has announced that it will abandon its proposed $20bn acquisition of Figma following the CMA's provisional findings that the deal would harm competition in product design tools and interactive product prototyping tools. The CMA's independent inquiry group, of which DT Economics partner David Thomas was a member, provisionally found that the merger would give rise to substantial lessening of competition. One of our partners, David Thomas has been appointed to a Competition and Markets Authority panel to investigate the proposed merger of Adobe and Figma. Adobe is a global software developer and specialises in products which allow customers to create and edit images (including its industry-standard Photoshop and Illustrator applications), as well as video, motion design, and interactive content. Figma, which was founded in 2012, is a leading provider of screen design and white
