We are an economic consultancy focused on regulation, competition and expert witness services. We advise on complex regulatory and commercial matters. Our clients range from established blue-chip companies, network operators, regulators and competition authorities, to leading law and accountancy firms. We differ from our competitors in a number of ways:

  • we sit on decision-making panels on some of the world’s most respected competition and sectoral regulators;

  • our team includes former regulatory experts within telecoms operators and a former global leader of the economics practice of a Big 4 consultancy;

The role

 

We are looking to recruit an experienced economic consultant to join our core team based in central London.

 

By leveraging your expertise and delivering impactful insights, you will play a crucial role in helping DT Economics' clients navigate complex regulatory and competition issues and make informed strategic decisions.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • conducting in-depth economic and financial analysis to support clients in regulated industries, eg in the context of modelling market trends, forecasting demand, and evaluating the impact of regulatory changes;

  • summarising research and data to prepare high-quality reports and presentations for senior client stakeholders;

  • collaborating with cross-functional teams of economists, engineers and industry experts to provide comprehensive solutions;

  • leveraging your expertise in competition, regulation and strategy to advise clients on navigating complex regulatory environments; and

  • participating in regulatory/legal proceedings and supporting the broader team in expert witness cases.

Experience and requirements for the position


Our expectations are that you have:

  • obtained at least a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) at any university or degree discipline (with a preference for economics, finance, or a related quantitative discipline);

  • previous experience (preferably 2-3 years) in economic consulting at a major firm, or at a regulator; and

  • some experience working on competition and/or regulatory matters for clients in regulated industries, with a preference for communications and digital markets.

 

The ideal candidate would also have:

  • excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities;

  • exceptional written and oral communications skills;

  • excellent organisational and time management skills and the ability to plan and prioritise a varied workload;

  • a desire to learn and the ability to grasp and succinctly summarise complex issues;

  • a flexible, pragmatic, proactive, ‘can do’ approach to work, strong work ethic and ability to ‘think on your feet’;

  • familiarity with communications, digital platforms, or other regulated sectors (such as energy, water or transport);

  • an ability to work effectively individually, and as an integral part of a busy team on high-profile client engagements; and

  • an ability to build strong relationships within DT Economics, our network of associates and client organisations.

 

We provide advice to clients around the world where English is a second language. There would be an additional benefit in having fluency in additional languages such as Spanish, German, Arabic or French.
